Who We Are

Three Strands is a non-denominational, Christian Church, in the West Simpsonville/Mauldin area that’s dedicated to destroying negative stereotypes about church. At Three Strands the messages aren’t boring, the music is cool, the dress is casual (we save our good t-shirts for Sunday) and nobody gets extra points for pretending to be perfect. At Three Strands we’re interested in people and our priority is helping you develop a relationship with the God who loves you and meaningful relationships with the rest of His kids.

Most people don’t go to church because the people aren’t real, the music is from the 50s (1850′s), the sermons make them paranoid about a possible sleep disorder they might be developing, and religious, judgmental types make ‘em nervous.
We hope that at Three Strands you will find something different….a different kind of church!
A typical service starts with singing and praising God and then our Pastor Mike Decker delivers a message. We laugh because it depends if Pastor Mike has had sleep the night before! You never know what he will say! Each week we take communion and then we end with a song.
A place where people believe that God has a sense of humor, they encounter Him, and where they will always feel free to come as they are – imperfections and all.

Mike has been our leader for over 23 years. He started 3strands at an elementary school, then a theatre, and we now have our own home. He and his beautiful wife Kathleen, and have 3 grown children. He loves to scuba dive and play board games when he isn't working on his Doctoral degree.

There are a lot of false assumptions about God out there and a lot of misinformation. At Three Strands we want to help you get to know who God really is, the love He has for you and the kind of life you can have living in Him.

Our priority at 3S is relationships. We want you to be in a real relationship with God and to develop real relationships with other people. At 3S, we want you to get tied into a group of people where you can develop meaningful, supportive relationships with people who are real. Whether you are a single adult, a child, a pre-teen, a teenager or a parent of one; whether you’ve gone to church your whole life or have never walked into one, Three Strands is a place for you…a place to belong…

And at Three Strands we want to help you figure out your mission. We believe that God has created us to do more than just eat, sleep, work, clip our finger nails and do the stuff society expects us to do. He has created each of us to do something meaningful with our lives. Finding that something is one of the greatest experiences in life and at 3S, we are dedicated to helping you find out what it is, and working together to make a real difference in our community and the world.
